“ We ordered shrimp & grits (barely any grits on my plate and mostly bbq sauce. should not have been served with shrimp tails on with that type of dish and ill-prepared beet salad with very dry salmon. Neither one of our dishes were impressionable and definitely not worth over 20 each. Drinks were mediocre. Music entertainers were way too loud for that small of a restaurant. I'm a local but won't be returning. Our 100 meal was not worth the money we paid. Very disappointed. Truffle frites were fairly good but need more seasoning. ****update**** We returned to 1836 with the 40 gift card sent to us by the manager, and we were not disappointed. The house burger was delicious, fries, and the steak quesadilla. Thank you, Management, for the opportunity to make it right! My only suggestion this time is to maybe keep the music down a bit lower during the day. The louder the music is, the louder people talk at their tables. It's a smaller space so it can get really loud in there very quickly. Great food, we'll be back! :) ”
“ We ventured from Frederick to Brunswick, MD and into Lovettsville, VA last weekend. To kick off the meal we shared a bowl of MD clam chowder. I read some of the reviews and ordered a burger with shoestring fries. My spouse got the fish with fries and we shared to experience the food. It was outstanding- the burger was fresh and moist and the fish had a good crispy coating that was delicious. The place was very quiet for lunchtime but we had a good experience. To wrap up the meal I had the homemade banana pudding with a chessman cookie. Outstanding again! We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. They are disability friendly with their access ramp. The only downside is no outdoor seating. Happy eating. ”
“ The food was amazing! 10/10 recommended poutine. Ive never had poutine but my bf has and we both loved it. He really likes the pork schnitzel but we shared the poutine and that was a meal! Our waitress was not as attentive as others and we waited a bit before she would come back as we watched others buzz around and stay on top of tables. The bloody marys were ok 5/10 something was missing for me but I finished it ”
“ The food was delicious and the beer was ice cold , they also have some of the most comfortable bar stools I’ve ever sat on which is a big plus in comfort staff was great and they gave off an awesome vibe I’ll definitely be back to check out the outside deck when it gets warmer ”
“ What a gem!! We happened upon this spot. We entered the taproom and experienced what I knew to be the lovely scents of truffle fries. I knew then we were in the right spot. Excellent beer collection. Lovely cocktails. My Bloody Mary was stuffed with large shrimp and pork belly. It was heaven. I went with the pork schnitzel and my companion had a breakfast burrito (it was Sunday around lunchtime and they had a few brunch offerings). The truffle fries were amazing. After smelling them as we entered I had to have them. We snacked as we waited for our entrees. No need for ketchup on this babies. Perfectly crispy and so flavorful with a dash of aioli and scallions. Excellent beer list. We sampled things and the waitstaff was super friendly. She made excellent suggestions too. They had some very unique brews we had never seen, and we get around, so we were impressed. They have happy hour and it looks like they have an outdoor bar with seating for warm days. Love this spot. Definitely worth trying. ”
